Grants Available

While the addition of solar PV to any business is great for reducing carbon emissions and energy costs, it requires significant capital investment to realise those changes. Luckily there are a range of grants available as we work towards our carbon neutral goals. The team at Shannon Energy can help you decide which grant is best for your company.

SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Scheme Grant

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG) offers financial support to facilitate the installation of on-site solar PV panels for business and other sectors. Grant amounts are determined by the standard output of the solar PV system, with funding available for systems up to 1000 kWp. Systems exceeding this capacity may qualify for a maximum grant of €162,600.

Who Can Apply for the Grant?

- Business entities

- The agricultural sector

- Public sector organisations

- Educational institutions (schools)

- Community centres

- Non-profit societies

Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3)

The Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3) provide grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding. The Solar Capital Investment Scheme will encourage the purchase of solar investments thereby reducing dependence on fossil energy. The solar scheme will be ring fenced with its own investment ceiling of €90,000 and will be grant-aided at the enhanced rate of 60%.

Accelerated Capital Allowance

Under the ACA scheme, solar PV panels are eligible as energy-efficient equipment. This permits companies to deduct the entire cost of such equipment in the year of acquisition, deviating from the standard eight-year period for capital allowances on plant and machinery.

SEAI Energy Audit

SEAI’s Support Scheme for Energy Audits (SSEA) will offer SMEs a €2,000 voucher towards the cost of a high quality energy audit. In most cases, this will cover the total cost of the audit. Application to the scheme is easy, with automatic approval for eligible businesses who spend over €10,000 on annual electricity costs.

Schools Photovoltaic Programme

It is intended that all eligible schools across the country will have the opportunity to apply to the scheme by end 2024.

The scheme will fund up to 6 kWp of roof-mounted solar PV for all eligible schools, and includes connection to the grid and a monitoring system and display screen.
